Japanese toilet

In 2007 I went to Japan for the second time – and I need to share this experience…. far out in the rural parts of Hakone in a very rToilet kontrolpanelustic and traditional guest house I had the most wonderful view from my room into a forrest of 10-12 meter bamboo trunks – In the garden there was a real onsen (hot pool) with water from the volcanoes below. The water had a slight hint of sulfuric acid, and it was nice and warm. Especially during night time with an ice cold Asahi within reach.

In this very simple and just on the other side of the hall way there was a high-tech robot (almost) toilet that lifted the seat automatically when you approached it, and lowered it again by the touch of a button on the control panel. As you can see on the picture – there were many other functions – more or less self explanatory by the pictorgrams – and some I didn’t care to explore…

I made a small film to show (some of) its functions.
